Different Sights to Behold

It was a religious moment for him. God's presence could be felt down there, the Texan from a NASA tracking station stated. Only a rare few like him can say that they saw this great mass of ice and volcanic ash. It is pretty normal for people to come here to first pass by McMurdo station, which is at the edge of the Ross Ice Shelf.

Before the Antarctic winter comes, he gets to enjoy the sunsets over the Royal Society Mountains. He really cherished the time he saw the names of the participants of the 1908 Shackleton expedition. He said that he will not forget the people he got acquainted with at McMurdo. No matter who the person was, he could be called by his first name and he also had a great life story to share. He has no fears about the landscape even if it is dangerous. Having gone on a cruise to see penguin breeding grounds, a 47 year old woman also claims to not be afraid of what she saw in Antarctica.

Penguins are animals that she has always been interested in. I consider them to be my favorites since childhood. They serve as small replicas of human beings. They are attractive in their own special way, but I wouldn't say they are cute. A memorable scene comes to her head whenever she recalls her trip to Antarctica.

A former US military outpost, McMurdo is now being managed and funded by the National Science Foundation. Nothing much can be done there. Getting outside requires several layers of high tech polar clothing and a hardy constitution, as temperatures are routinely 30 degrees below zero. Though he worked difficult and tedious shifts tracking satellites, he said he tried hard not to forget the stark beauty around him.

It was seeing a multitude of King Penguins gathering along the shores of a bay. She described it as something truly eye catching. One need not have an academic grant or a pilot's license to make it to The Ice, as the locals call it. Other alternatives are possible for those who prefer to do this without having to take part with the modern day Foreign Legion. There are cruise lines from New Zealand that bring passengers to Antarctica for only $3,000. You would be shelling out a lot of money for a flight to the South Pole. If you have a sense of adventure and lots of money, then this is for you.

Boat slips

Know your boat's dimensions - the first step in finding a boat slip is to know all of your boat's measurements, including its width, height and draft. If you are unsure of your boat's measurements, you might end up renting a slip that will not accommodate your boat or is in water too shallow for your sailboat's draft.

Accessibility to the boat slip - another important piece of information, particularly for sailors, is whether the slip provides sufficient access to the water in which you intend to travel. You must know whether there are any fixed bridges or other obstacles that would impede your access to and from the slip. If there are any bridges, research the clearance both at high tide and low tide to make sure your boat's height will allow unrestricted access to your slip. Also, if there are any draw bridges in the area, you need to determine when and how those bridges are opened so that you can navigate to and from your slip.

Marina Slips - if you are searching for a marina slip, there are several factors you will want to consider. For example:

Does the marina slip have a fresh water supply on the dock?

Are there electrical hookups for each slip?

Are liveaboards or transients allowed?

Is there a fuel dock near the boat slip and does it offer the type of fuel required by your boat?

What other amenities are offered at the marina (laundry, internet access, supplies, etc.)

Does the marina provide 24 hour access to your boat slip? What type of security is provided by the marina?

What are the marina's procedures to protect your boat in the event of foul weather? Does the marina offer any type of insurance for both natural disasters and its own negligence?

Dry Docking - if wet slips are difficult to find or too expensive, you may want to consider a dry dock or stacked boat dock storage. Larger marina docks often have dry or stacked boat dock storage. One disadvantage to dry dock storage is that the marina will need to be notified in advance of when you intend to use your boat so that it can be removed from the dry or stacked storage. This is not the ideal situation for those boaters who want to get their boats to sea at a moments notice. However, the cost savings may outweigh the inconvenience associated with dry storage.

Barcelona and Marbella Beach.

Barcelona has many lovely beaches and one of them is Marbella Beach. The beach is located in the district called Sant Marti, between Nova Mar Bella and Bogatell beaches. It has a length of 512 m and an average width of 42 m. It is twenty minutes away from the city center and 3 kilometers away from the statue of Christopher Columbus that was found in the nearby port. In order to reach the beach, visitors can take buses, metro - Selva de Mar, or a tram - Selva de Mar.

Overview

Like the majority of the beaches in the city, Marbella Beach has also become a tourist attraction after the Olympic Games which were held in Barcelona in 1992. Before this event, the Olympic village had been built close to the beaches. Today, this village is a tourist attraction. With many bars, restaurants and shops, it is the perfect place to escape from the sun in the late afternoon hours. As a part of the preparation for the Olympics, all the beaches were arranged around the Olympic village. Till today, they are well maintained on a regular basis during the whole year and especially during summer. Marbella Beach is often visited by young people and by the residents of nearby Sant Marti district.

Activities

Along the beach, there are a promenade and a bicycle path. Thus, the beach is also accessible by bike. This beach also provides its visitors with many aquatic sports and leisure activities. Promenade and bicycle path are suitable for walking, jogging, skating and roller driving. The nautical base is located nearby, so the visitors have the opportunity to practice water sports such as pedal craft, water bicycle and diving. This is also a place where they can rent all the necessary equipment and take lessons for the beginners. On the beach, they can play ping-pong, volleyball, basketball or football on the sand.

Marbella Beach also has a small part reserved for small children. It has an area for the children to play and several other facilities. This beach has another specialty as well. For those who like nudity, apart from the San Sebastian beach, this is the perfect place to visit. Even though it has been an officially legalized nudist beach since 1996, there are many tourists who are not nude. The beach has lifeguards, parking places, many fountains with drinking water, changing rooms, showers and toilets. It is forbidden to take pets to the beach and to use soap in the water.
